GMT Productions currently has a catalogue of some 400 television programmes, all categories combined. In fact, for the last several years, the company has topped the rankings for the production of drama and comedy in hourly volume.
GMT also produces feature films, many of which have stemmed from encounters between Jean-Pierre Guerin and various film directors with singular backgrounds. After the success of Mammuth with both the general public and critics (it sold nearly 900,000 tickets in France, was an Official Selection for the 2010 Berlin Film Festival and was nominated for a César award in 2010), GMT is once again satisfying eclectic tastes by shooting two contrasting films this year: Le Grand Soir, an offbeat revolutionary comedy directed by Benoit Delepine and Gustave Kervern, starring Benoît Poelvoorde and Albert Dupontel, and Les Adieux à la Reine, a historical drama directed by Benoît Jacquot, featuring Lea Seydoux, Diane Kruger and Xavier Beauvois.
Since its inception in 1987, GMT has set itself apart through its desire to explore all fictional genres, focusing not only on some of the most significant criminal cases of the 20th century with Dans la tête du tueur and L’affaire Bruay-en-Artois, but also exploring the fantasy thriller genre with David Nolande. GMT portrays both traditional history with Chateaubriand and more contemporary periods with Jean Moulin and 93 Rue Lauriston. It also gives us a behind-the-scenes look at French political life with Mort d’un Président and, coming soon on France Télévisions, Chirac, la dernière campagne, inspired by a fictional account published in Le Monde.
GMT also spotlights the world of comedy with the series Les Bougon, produced with Calt, Facteur Chance, produced with GFG, and La Grève des Femmes.
The 2011 season will be enlivened by the preposterous adventures of families who have agreed to exchange houses in the series A 10 min de… and by the exploits of a big-time swindler played by Thierry Neuvic in Ni vu, ni connu.
The police procedural will also return to the limelight with Les Virtuoses and the second eagerly awaited season of Flics, an uncompromising thriller created by Olivier Marchal starring Frédéric Diefenthal, Yann Sundberg and Catherine Marchal, to be aired soon on TF1.
Renowned for such prestigious period productions as Monte-Cristo (1998), Balzac (1999), Les Misérables (2000), Napoléon (2001-2002), D’Artagnan et les trois mousquetaires (2004), Le Grand Charles (2006), and Ali Baba (2007), GMT is currently preparing TF1’s new blockbuster event with the shooting of Merlin, written by Michel Delgado and Karine de Demo, in which actors Gérard Jugnot, Joséphine de Meaux, Marilou Berry and Michel Vuillermoz reinterpret the myth of the celebrated magician with a touch of offbeat, contemporary humour.
The company also continues its international expansion in 2011 with the preparation of the series Odysseus for the Arte channel (in co-production with Making Prod) The ancient epic is portayed by a European cast.
And GMT continues to build a loyal following thanks to the endearing heroes of three major series : Julie Lescaut on TF1, Boulevard du Palais on France 2 and Famille d’Accueil on France 3.
